Coaching changed my life.
I am so relieved that I found my place in the world where I use my best strengths and work in a way that is deeply aligned with who I am as an individual. The excitement, freedom, and challenge of working in my professional sweet spot is incredibly rich and rewarding.
It took me a very long time to figure out where I fit in the work world. I struggled to find the place where my strengths are valued.
I know what it feels like to work in the wrong field, be miserably underemployed because you don't know what else to do, and secretly label yourself a loser because you can't figure it out. As a result, I am deeply committed to helping you recognize, develop, and passionately contribute your strengths and talents to the world.
I teach others how to see themselves, their experiences, and the world differently. It is from these new perspectives that you can accomplish amazing things. I'm on a mission to change the world one leader at a time.
After more years than I care to admit of doing what seemed to work for others, creating a self-fulfilling prophesy of unsatisfactory results, and hiding in a place of indecision, I finally got it.
My watershed moment was a teary meltdown in a friend's driveway. Even though I was a smart, capable, well-educated woman, I was so unhappy and so frustrated because I couldn’t find a fulfilling career.
I was in a very low place. I wanted to wallow in my despair. I wanted my friend to wallow with me.
Instead, she smiled and said that I was in the place I needed to be.
After I quieted my internal outrage about her “ridiculous” statement, I finally heard what she had shared with me earlier in the day. I finally understood that my friend recognized me in her leadership coach. My friend saw me as a hugely successful coach. My friend saw parts of me that I had been choosing to deny.
My friend did not know that coaching had been my secret desire for many, many years. I had flirted with the idea often and repeatedly deemed it too risky, too "out there," and too unpredictable to be a reasonable option. In truth, the only thing that my "reasonable" options created was a flimsy illusion of safety that led to nothing but misery.
From that moment forward, the cost of not following my internal compass was far greater than my fears.
Shortly thereafter, I applied to the Leadership Coaching certificate program at Georgetown University’s School of Continuing Studies and began my journey towards becoming a coach.
There are so many reasons that I love coaching.
Just between us, I fall a little bit in love with each client. My fierce belief in and unwavering support for my clients comes from a place of deep care and respect. Coaching is one of those professions where the benefits flow in both directions. I am constantly learning and growing as I work with my clients. My clients make me a better person and a more skilled coach. For me, it doesn’t get much better than that.
I receive great joy each time a client has an aha moment, makes a new connection, and takes a step towards a goal. I frequently do a little happy dance. When in public, I smile happily and do the happy dance in my head.
Sharing my hard-won knowledge and expertise to help you recognize, develop, and contribute your talents to the world takes me to my happy place. Imagine how different our world would be if more of us operated from our professional happy places.
The power and effectiveness of coaching changed my life. I would love for coaching to change your life as well.
